‘How Not To Be Seen’ (LIVE)

Here’s video of the keynote at PyCon AU. This is the formal unveiling of Plexus – with slides and a full explanation. Probably quite helpful if you’re wondering what this is all about.

Diagrams

Here are a few diagrams which explain the architecture of Plexus.  These diagrams are taken from the slides for “How Not To Be Seen” (you can download the slides for yourself). Diagram 1: Architectural Overview – Here are the three components of Plexus: the Plex, the Sharer and the Listener. Diagram 2: The ‘Plex’ – [...]

Why Python?

Many have asked why Python is the language of Plexus, and if other languages can be used with Plexus. Python is the language of Plexus because Python naturally lends itself to the creation of lots of little ‘Sharer’ and ‘Listener’ modules which can be easily passed around.  It’s not that this can’t be done in [...]

Code!

Having mastered subversion enough to get code into the repository, I’ve now cleaned out the credentials and added some licenses to each of my own files and the full demo version of Plexus is now up and available to be downloaded & played with.  There’s also a brief wiki page to help you get things [...]

Follow Plexus on Twitter!

A new Twitter account, plexusdev, has been set up so we have a nice way of sharing our news about Plexus.  Please follow it!

Birds of a Feather!

We had a Plexus Birds-of-a-Feather meetup at PyCon AU. Here are three shots of the whiteboard that filled up with our recommendations and comments… It was an awesome hour, filled with some great ideas.

Today, someone asked if Plexus competes with Diaspora*. The answer, emphatically, is no. Plexus does not compete. Plexus connects. Any web service [...]

Where’s the code?

It’s soon to come.  All efforts have been focused on today’s PyCon AU talk & demo, so there’s not a lot done on that.  Tony Parisi has set up a Google Code account.  Over the next several days I’ll attach licenses to the various modules, clean out the credentials, and upload everything to Google Code. [...]

How Not To Be Seen

I: The Comfy Chair Back in 1978 – when I was just fifteen – I begged my parents to let me enroll in a course at the local community college (the equivalent of TAFE) so that I could take ‘Data Processing with RPG II’.  I wrote my first computer program in RPG II.  I typed [...]
